New Book: Islam & the Challenge of Human Rights by Abdulaziz Sachedina

“Islam and the Challenge of Human Rights is a reverent, insightful, and truly critical work by Abdulaziz Sachedina, who is the leading Islamic theorist writing in English today. This book is must reading for Muslims who want to be full participants in western moral and political discourse, for Jews and Christians who want voices from the third great monotheistic religion of revelation to become part of their dialogical interaction, and even for secular people who want to engage religious voices in moral and political discourse that is truly inclusive.” – David Novak, J. Richard and Dorothy Shiff Professor of Jewish Studies, University of Toronto

  • Event – October 25 – Washington National Cathedral – A Day of Christian – Muslim Dialogue

  • Event – October 28 – Princeton University Faith & Work Initiative will launch its first fall event entitled, “Ethics in the Executive Suite

The “Ethics in the Executive Suite” guest interviewee is Margaret Benefiel, Ph.D. She is a scholar, author, and business consultant, founding and leading an organization called, Executive Soul. She will be speaking out of her faith tradition as a Quaker, sharing her personal insights, as well as her scholarly research into the area of faith and decision-making.

    A Series of Public Conversations

During the Initiative’s inaugural year in 2008, we began a series of public conversations around the theme of “Ethics in the Executive Suite.” In particular, we sought to discover what role – if any – a person’s faith tradition played in his or her leadership style and corporate life.

We held conversations with several CEOs and other marketplace leaders who represented a variety of religious traditions, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. We explored ways in which they drew on the resources and teachings of their faith tradition to help inform their leadership style and decision-making. These interviews are available to view (at no charge) on our web site.
